If you've already installed your printer in a Windows machine, you probably have the ppd file somewhere in the Windows filesystem tree. It's just a matter of searching with "dir /s <ppdfilename>.ppd" .
I did that once, some years ago, and it worked.
Good luck.

In my case, it went right and I click print test page at the very last step, but nothing happened.

I check it on the webpage, and i found it left logs that all jobs has finished normally.

do you know anything about this by any chance? (model: samgsung ML-1660k)

Thanks.

Hello maruprez,

I couldn't find a 2130 ppd file either — so I used the 2140 ppd (pre-installed already) instead. Mine seems to work just fine.

If possible coul you send me your ppd file?

Crap. What I meant to say was Adobe buying out Macromedia.

Even Oracle, which bought out Adobe many years ago now and owns the Flash trademark

Wait… are you talking about Java. I don't think Adobe is owned by Oracle… is it?

Hi Helmuti,

Android is "hanging" on 4.1 releaase ( because of flash is neccessary and wroking) for the most availabe androids mobile. The new Android 4.2 and higher have no more flash on it.. this is a nogo and was not a good idea from google I think!

Flash has had numerous security issues in the past, and is a closed system. Even Adobe, which bought out Macromedia many years ago now and owns the Flash trademark, openly encourages people to move to HTML5 alternatives instead.

HTML5 is the new standard, and all new devices and software will cease to support Flash. It's being discontinued from use everywhere. I suspect that as soon as the Wikidot team is comfortable with the level of HTML5-browser adoption, they'll revamp the file uploader.

Hallo Kenneth!
Thanks - this all to know helps a lot at the moment! I understand now better the environments you and we (other wikidot users) need to have in mind.
Regards
Helmut

Hello Helmut!

You're sneaky :P I'm still waiting for my Developer Account to be activated with Google :P so that might take some time yet :P

I do have a discussion on the Tribal Council forum — but I do plan on making one on the main community forum — as soon as a release is in the horizon.

As I mentioned in the past, it is possible to port this entire app over to iOS, Blackberry, Symbian, WebOS and Windows Phone. In fact, I plan to try and compile an app for Blackberry soon for you to test!

In terms of the app's compatibility, all features of the app should be supported by Android 2.1 —> 4.2.1. I will not, however, be providing an option to upload files in the first release. That may come at a later date.

I have written a Wikidot upload patch using HTML5 that could be released in the future and may be able to be integrated into the app somehow. I'm yet to try it though.

And my app will work no matter what screen size (tablet or phone), as long as the OS is supported.

I will write more about this when I'm ready for release!

Kenneth

Hi Kenneth!

I have some questions to your coming APP ( I am watching your Mobile Site):

At the moment I use blackberry storm (without keyboard) and I am not able to "sign on" in a good way on wikidot. I can only react and post in my email box, but nothing else (and internet in a minimized way - no onlime banking, no reaction possible on WIkidot, all only read only)
I do not know blackberry systems well, but:

I want to change to another system - either windows 8 ( Nokia new one "Lumia 920 ) or Android ( HTC 8X -).
(Windows? : I am working profeessional on MS Windows since 40 years..)

Both have the same problem I think:

  • flash ( file upload ?) is not working in Wikidot,
  • Sign in is not really working in Windows 8 ( not tested on Androiod)

Android is "hanging" on 4.1 releaase ( because of flash is neccessary and wroking) for the most availabe androids mobile.
The new Android 4.2 and higher have no more flash on it.. this is a nogo and was not a good idea from google I think!

My Questions:
1) With your APP ( on Adroid - which release ? ? ) I can make some "subset" of wikidot tasks - would it be nice to llist them in a way - which tells what is not working and what is working well on Android rel 4.xyz ?
2) I know - windows 8 is a little strange in this world of APP's - but the APP-Store is growing also and it would be a good try to find out what is neccessary to build such an APP for Win8 (Nokia) too. Could be the findings - it is impossible to make it on a cheap and fast tranfering way.

I am asking also - what is the future of android Releases if all this adobe flash work will not work in the future - have we all to change to htlm5 ?
And will Wikidot work on the tablets ( Android, or even Win 8 RT) work with your APP too?

Perhasp we should transfer this discussion to the community forum for the other asking too :
either in an new - Blog ( about this site if it is working and fonished?) or in a coffe-table thread or whatever is a good idea ?

I would like to know more about all the confusing status of the different mobile/tablet systems and ossibiities we than have with wikidot and your app !!

regards
Helmut

I am actually pretty jealous, haha :P Unfortunately, development on my phone hasn't been too active (such that it doesn't have it's own category or thread in the XDA forums). However, there are quite a few ROMs out there for it :D

Haha, I'm running CyanogenMod 10 (4.1 Jellybean) with some framework modifications made by me on my 3 year old device which is my Optimus One (600MHz ARMv6 single-core, MDPI, Old Ardeno 200). The ROM has no bugs at all :D XDA has also a 4.2 ROM, but the bluetooth's not working :P

Hi Helmut! Those were was simply a mockup image produced using Adobe Fireworks. I'm working on an app for Android based on these mockups — however, it's in very early stage. :)
